David Byrne and Fatboy Slim Collaborate On Musical
Fatboy Slim and David Byrne are writing a musical based on the life of Philippine first lady Imelda Marcos.
Marcos was accused of running her country into the ground and was known to be a lady of extreme excesses, who was a regular at New Yorks famous Studio 54 and had a ridiculous shoe collection. She was found guilty of corruption in the 90's, but her sentence was overturned on appeal.
She was married to former President Ferdinand Marcos whom with between 1968 and 1986 allegedly destroyed the nations economy.
David Byrne had come up with the concept and he will write the music with superstar DJ Fatboy Slim a.k.a. Norman Cook. Here Lies Love will premiere at the Adelaide Festival next year.
