Axl Rose: "Chinese Democracy" is 'complex'
Guns N' Roses fans will hear new music this year. That's according to Guns N' Roses main man Axl Rose, who revealed the inside scoop over the weekend to Rolling Stone magazine.
Speaking at the launch party for Korn's forthcoming US tour, the reclusive rock legend says the new set - now over years in the making - will definitely come out in 2006.
"People will hear music this year," Axl Rose tells Rolling Stone, "It's a very complex record, I'm trying to do something different. Some of the arrangements are kind of like Queen. Some people are going to say, 'It doesn't sound like Axl Rose, it doesn't sound like Guns n' Roses.'"
"Chinese Democracy" has reportedly cost Geffen over $13m to date in studio and musicians fees. Rose reveals the band have thirty-two songs written.
"Twenty-six are nearly done," he says. Of those, thirteen are slated for the final album. Track titles discussed include "Better," "There Was a Time" and "The Blues."
Rose also discussed his former Guns N' Roses bandmates, in particular guitarist Slash, with whom he dismisses any talk of reunion.
"I haven't spoken to Slash in ten years," Rose says. "I love the guy, I always wanted everyone to know how great he was, but.... I was just talking to Izzy the other day though."
Slash himself had revealed details of "Chinese Democracy" to press earlier this month.
